Lesson 7: Learning Zoology
Learning about animals will be fun. Humans belong to the Animal Kingdom, too!
The goal of this class is for you to understand the morphologic diversity as a result of an evolutive process.
In this lesson:
a) You will learn about the different taxonomic groups of the animal kingdom
b) You will learn about taxonomic nomenclature
The main objectives are the following:
To identify the different taxonomic groups part of the animal kingdom.
To identify the general zoology as a mix between invertebrate and vertebrate zoology.
To comprehend the taxonomic hierarchy system for the scientific naming process in biology.
To elaborate the taxonomic classification of an animal species.
For students who require a deeper knowledge of this topic, special classes can be offered.

The class will be scored as explained with the rubric.

First, understand the concepts!
After a looking through the chapter, let's look at taxonomic classifications and how you can name an animal species!
Watch the video on how to elaborate a taxonomic classification.
Let's do our research!

Activity
1- Go to any ecosystem near to your house, school, or city, or wherever you want to go.
2- On your phone, open the Instagram App, add the instructor, the user is @juanistumpfs and send your instructor a Direct Message with your location and what animal are you choosing to explain.
3- The instructor will go live with all the students.
4- Each student will explain a chosen animal's evolutionary process.
4- Let's have fun!
After the live stream, create a story explaining the taxonomical classification of the species and tag the instructor in the story (@juanistumpfs)
Write a summary on what the process is for classifying a species and email it to the instructor (jstumpfs@g.emporia.edu).
Summary
You learned the animal kingdom is sub-classified into different groups, such as mammals, insects, fishes, reptiles, birds, etc.
You learned there are vertebrates, and invertebrates animals.
You identified and understood the process of naming a species and classifying it into a biological group.
You learned how to elaborate a taxonomic classification.
