Lesson 5: Learning Physics

Physics is the explanation of most visible natural successes, and it's a funny way to see nature!

The goal of this class is for the students to reach comprehension on the basic knowledge of Mechanics Physics. The class is in two modules:

a) Kinematics

b) Dynamics

The main objectives are the following:

To identify kinematics as the branch of Mechanics Physics studying the motion of solids without reference to the forces which cause the motions.

To comprehend the mathematical expressions used to explain the motion.

To identify the Dynamics as the branch of Mechanics Physics studying the motion of solid bodies and the forces which cause the motions.

To comprehend the mathematic expressions used to explain the motion.

To identify the applications of the different Newton's fundamental physics laws ruling the dynamics in Physics.

For students who require a deeper knowledge of this topic, special classes can be offered.

In the upper link you will find several exercises that will be covered during the class.

First, understanding concepts!

Let's start reading chapters 1-4:

  1. Motion along a straight line

  2. Motion in 2D and 3D

  3. Newton's laws of motion

  4. Applying Newton's law

After reading through chapters 1-4, go to the link and check your comprehension of the theory. Please take a look at each Learning Goal before practicing with the concept builders.

Now, let's see how aceleration affects the movement!

Scroll down in the site below (https://www.walter-fendt.de/html5/phen/acceleration_en.htm) and check how the aceleration affects the movement of a solid body in uniform movements. Pay special attention on how the graphics changes over time. Feel free to play with different values for the aceleration.

Now, the Apple guy! No! Not Steve Jobs! Let's study about Newton's Physics Laws. After reviewing chapter 3 and 4 again, let's play with this simulation game.

We adopt the US grading system which is the following

Letter grade   Percentage

A+                97–100%

A                  93–96%

A-                 90–92%

B+                87–89%

B                  83–86%

B-                 80–82%

C+                77–79%

C                  73–76%

C−                70–72%

D+                67–69%

D                  63–66%

D−               60–62%

F                  < 60%

The class will be scored with a weight of 100% for the final test.

Take the following quiz by selecting the start button and scroll down to answer the questions. Next, upload the certificate with your results when completed to get your grade.
